Stainless Steel All Thread Rod
18-8 refers to 300 Series Stainless Steel with a 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel minimum content. 304 Stainless Steel is perhaps the best-known member of the 18-8 Stainless Steel Chromium Nickel Alloy Family.
316 Stainless Steel has similar physical and mechanical properties compared to 18-8 Stainless. The primary differentiator is in Type 316’s material composition: 10% Chromium, 16% Nickel and 2% Molybdenum. The additional Nickel content as well as the inclusion of Molybdenum increases corrosion resistance to sulfides and chlorides (like salt). Many customers select 316 Stainless Steel over 18-8 for seaside applications.
